Using Bottle
Let the child inform the adult that food is finished. Babies are naturally able to get the correct amount of food as long as they are allowed by their parents the right to do so. Babies can alter from day to day in the quantity of formulas they prefer and require. Let them communicate this to the feeding device. If a baby shuts its mouth, turns its face away, screams or refuses to get the baby’s nipple changed, take note that the feeding over and dispose of any remaining formula from the bottle. The leftover formula left after feeding could harbor bacteria that will multiply and be eaten by the baby when the bottle is reused.
Always keep an infant close to you when feeding. Do not prop bottles. Children need to look at faces of those who feeds them, they should be able to communicate with and take pleasure in eating. They also must be able to remove the bottle from their mouths if they’re vomiting or choke and this is not feasible using a propped bottle.
Do not give your infant the sweetener of corn syrup or honey. There have been numerous instances of severe food poisoning caused from corn syrup and honey being given to infants who have undeveloped digestive systems.
